This month Mother Goose Time is teaching us all about Community Helpers!
We’re looking forward to learning about healthy and safety, jobs around the neighborhood, creative careers, and downtown occupations.
The kids and I are really looking forward to all the monthly themes for 2016-2017!
Daily Child Projects
“Community Helpers” is jam packed with wonderful projects including several invitations to create and make and play activities.
We’ll be creating projects inspired by dentistry, factory work, hairdressing, and dancing. We’ll be playing with hammers, rulers, and microphones. We also get to author our own book and run a shop.
Calendar and Daily Activities
Putting out fires, toothbrush painting, and a puppet theatre are just a few of the fun activities we are looking forward to this month.
The included story of the month is “Bella and the Umbrella,” by Pearl Atkins Schwartz and illustrated by Chris Lensch.
We also have a whole new list of suggested books and outdoor and STEAM inspired play ideas.
Each month comes with thematic manipulatives. This month, truck counters and pocket cubes are included.
These manipulatives are used in several of the Mother Goose Time activities and we are most looking forward to using them for constructing towers and color sorting.
We will also be focusing on the following concepts:
- Color – yellow
- Shape – star
- Friendship Trait – respectful
- Pattern – ABC
- Letters – D, V, & U
- Sight Words – to, you, can
- Numbers – 3 and 13
The month’s musical selections are rock inspired.
We’ll be listening and dancing to “Walk Like a Mailman” and “Waiter, Waiter.”
***The music CD is included with the monthly curriculum purchase. Dance n’Beats is an optional dance and fitness program.
This month also includes a celebration kit for Thanksgiving.
We’ll be playing “Stuff the Turkey” and creating a “Corn Painting.”
We will also be learning about “The Story of The Tower of Babel” with “God Asks Me to Work for Him,” from Experience God (Christian curriculum add-on) and dancing to the music from our “Dancing with Community Helpers” program from Dance ‘n Beats (dance and fitness program).
The toddler is always included thanks to the Little Goose Program (toddler supplement).
New, this year we will also be adding “More Reading and Writing“and “More Math,” as part of Mother Goose Time’s prek and kindergarten enrichment program.
We hope you’ll join us on our adventures as we learn more about these amazing “Community Helpers!”
