Like most toddlers and preschoolers my kids have to move ALL OF THE TIME! We spend time outdoors everyday and still I feel like they are bouncing off the walls and the couch and the changing table…….
We have Ladybug in a gymnastics class, we take frequent trips to the park, and go for nice long walks and bike rides. Still, there are times when going outside or taking an extracurricular class is just not in the schedule, so we use Dance ‘n Beats to shake out some of our extra energy.
Yes! Mom has totally been known to shake her groove thing too 🙂
Dance ‘n Beats is a preschool dance curriculum is a research supported program that uses 21 unique movements to increase muscle control, encourage physical fitness, and foster a joy for learning.
For me it’s a sanity saver.
For the kids it’s fun!
Each month a new thematic dance program using the same 21 movements in a variety of combinations is released to accompany the Mother Goose Time theme for the month. This past month was Dancing with Bees and Butterflies.
The kid’s favorite dance was “Egg to Butterfly.”
Dancing Through the 4 Stages of the Butterfly Lifecycle
- First they they were little eggs on a leaf and sat in a ball.
- Then they were caterpillars eating leaves and laying on their bellies, nodding their heads up and down.
- As chrysalis they stood up, bent with arms folded.
- Finally, they emerged as butterflies with wings flapping.
There are 3 different ways to enjoy the Dance ‘n Beats program.
A DVD is included, but you don’t have to use the television to use the program. The DVD is great as a guide and is a quick way for me to learn the movements to teach the kids. The CD included with the monthly boxed curriculum uses the same music. The instruction booklet contains all the choreography and suggested activities by song. There is also sheet music in the back.
If you have wigglers or just need a back up plan on those rainy days. I highly recommend Dance ‘n Beats. As an added bonus it’s a great workout for Moms having trouble finding time to get in a work out with active toddlers and preschoolers in the house 🙂 Check out the Dance ‘n Beats channel on you tube for some examples. “Rainforest Explorer” “Big Blue Whale” “Drip, Drop, Rain” are a few of our favorites!
Happy groovin!
