Mother Goose Time is a fabulous preschool curriculum that reinforces concepts such as letters, numbers, and shapes through play based activities. Each month’s curriculum includes games, crafts, literacy and mathematical activities, and dramatic play opportunities. Also included are these five, simple and fun items that have become family favorites!
Calendar
Every month a calendar arrives. The kids love being able to put up the card with the date in the appropriate place. I love that they are learning the months of the year, days of the week, and ordinal numbers. The calendar also helps with pattern recognition. For the month of September the pattern was boy, girl, boy, girl, etc. For October the pattern was apple, tree, tree, apple, tree, tree, etc.
Friendly Bees
This year Mother Goose Time has included friendly bee badges that the kids can earn the right to wear. In the month pictured below, the friendly bee badge was for being respectful. The kids love being able to show off their badge. I love being able to reinforce real life good behavior that they are learning about in the curriculum.
World Map and Global Friends
The kids absolutely love the global map. They love pointing to the different continents and animals/vehicles located in the different countries and oceans. I love that they are learning some basic geography including the names of the continents. Each month a new set of global friends arrive that teaches us something about the culture of their country. For example, in September one of our global friends was from France and taught the kids a new game that they adored called petanque. I love that they are learning more about the world around them including customs and cultures that differ significantly from their own.
Storybook of the Month
The storybooks that Mother Goose Time sends each month have unfailingly been big hits with the kids. They love the story lines and interactive characters. I love the use of stimulating language and strong moral fiber of the stories. Getting the chance to dig out the story book of the month is one of the kids’ favorite parts of getting the Mother Goose Time curriculum box with the yellow bus on the front!
Make Your Own Bilingual Book
The bilingual books included each month are really fun to put together. The kids love pulling out glue and practicing reading new words in a new language. I love being able to introduce them to a new language in a fun format that allows them to make connections with the knowledge they already have.
Mother Goose Time curriculum has several fabulous components that arrive each and every month. These five are just some of our family favorites. As our family prepares for our newest arrival, I will continue to share posts about the basic elements of the curriculum that have made the biggest impact over the past several months. Hope everyone is having a wonderful fall season!
