Mosaic Reviews was kind enough to provide me with a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
A Light for my Path: An ABC Book Based on Psalm 119 was written by Davis Carman and illustrated by Alice Ratterree.
The book is published by Apologia, a homeschool curriculum company dedicated to publishing educational resources that reflect the Christian faith. Appropriate for young children interested in picture books and those learning to read, this resource guides young learners through the twenty-six letters of the English alphabet and twenty-two letters of the Hebrew alphabet using scripture and imagery consistent with a faithful life.
Clearly our Itty Bitty is a huge fan of the graphic depiction of the alphabet. She particularly liked the spotty dotty lady bug as seen above and the rabbit as seen below!
A Light for My Path is beautifully illustrated with an animal or plant paired with each letter. In addition each letter is coupled with a word that describes living a Christian life. Some of my favorites are the elephant paired with the word eternal and the word true paired with an illustration of a turtle.
The book also introduces children to the Hebrew alphabet using Psalm 119. This portion of the book is likely more appropriate for elementary to older children and lacks the graphic detail of the portion of the book dedicated to the English alphabet. The book is 80 pages and available in paperback form for $14.00 from Apologia.
Carman and Ratterree also combined skill sets to publish “Good Morning, God,” a guide to help families with children ages 1-8 reflect on the joy of God through daily prayer, activities, and discussion questions. This book is also available through Apologia.

What a beautiful book. I like the “Good Morning God” book too. Have you gotten many books from Apologia? I’m trying to decide what Kindergarten (gulp!) curriculum to get for next year…

Hi Amy! I’ve only gotten a couple books from Apologia so far, but Itty Bitty is only 15 months – so we have a while 🙂 Everything I have gotten from Apologia has been of excellent quality with really beautiful illustrations. Are you using a curriculum for their preschool lessons?
