For the Love of……… (March 2016)
When I started this blog, part of the plan was to share our family’s journey with friends and family. Many of you are too far away to see us and the kids everyday. But I got wrapped up in my kids, freelance writing, and trying to keep up with post deadlines. I’m terrible at sending “real” pictures and the Christmas cards have been a no go for a few years now, so I’m going to start a monthly series called For the Love of……. a series dedicated to keeping you updated on our comings and goings 🙂 God Bless!
Note: For the purposes of the Internet – our daughter is “Ladybug,” our eldest son is “Owl,” and our youngest is “Guppy.” Please respect our wishes and refer to them as such if you comment on the blog, Facebook, or any other social media channel – thanks folks!!!
So, For the love of……..Take 1
Family and Friends
The “Tree People”
We had some enormous trees taken down in the backyard. It’s all part of the master plan to make our current home a little more maintenance friendly. The kids were fascinated and have started referring to the workers as the “Tree People.” Ladybug has created entire stories and songs about the “Tree People” and I think she misses them now that the work is complete.

A Quick Trip Home
We traveled to visit the kid’s Uncle and Aunt in NC. The kids had a great time running around their backyard. My sweet husband said goodbye to his childhood home and officially put it on the market.

Uncle and Aunt showed us this picture of my husband’s Uncle and his Mother when they were young. I so see my kids in this shot. Now, I know what Ladybug and Owl are going to look like in a few years – just WOW!

Guppy is 4 Months Old
Our little Guppy turned four months old this month! He got his mandatory bear picture and a couple close ups. He is very loved by his siblings. I hope they still like him when he gets mobile and starts taking off with their toys…LOL

Dante and Abby
We lost two pets this month. Our Russian tortoise Abby and our beloved Dante. Dante was our Belgian Mallinois and my husband’s bachelor dog and friend. He took ill in the evening and was gone by morning. We are grateful he went quickly, but are going to miss him. It’s just plain weird to not have barking when the toaster pops in the morning 🙁
Easter Sunday

You’d never know this from all the pictures I take of her, but this little gal NEVER sits still to LET me take a photograph. I always have to catch her in action. Fortunately, she naturally smiles a lot. This picture! She looked, she smiled, she posed! Maybe it was the chocolate 🙂 🙂 🙂

Snake
Those of you who know my mom know she was far, far away when Daddy was showing off the snake he found in our backyard. The kids were so excited. Darn that snake for showing up right before bed time! It took 45 minutes to calm them back down………

The toddlers love reading with and to Guppy. I think they spend most of their time showing him the images they know on the pages. Guppy is a good sport.

The kids are really into wordless picture books and creating their own stories to go along with the images. One of their favorites is “Out of the Blue.” Ladybug is particularly infatuated with the “friendly Orca who pulls the giant squid to shore,” in her version of the story 🙂

Earth Worm Jars
We’ve been spending a lot more time outdoors this month as the weather gets warmer. The kids are very, VERY into earthworms. Did you know there are online tutorials on how to make earthworm jars? Yup, this one even includes an observation sheet.

Fun
We’ve played outside a ton this month! We’ve also had a Chick – fil – A play date with a local mom’s group, explored Imagination Forest, partied at the park, attended story time at the library, and had multiple Easter egg hunts in the backyard.
The adults watched the very last episode of Downtown abbey 🙁 We entertained ourselves with Ant-Man – a super hero movie that I actually enjoyed along with my husband), and Man Up, a horrifically, but hilarious off color romance on Netflix. In Man Up I really liked when she caught his ex-wife’s new husband on fire 🙂
I continue to work my way through the Modern Mrs. Darcy book challenge and am really enjoying my online Book Club. The book for this past month was “Room.” The movie was also available on Amazon Streaming Video – it was good, but no where near as powerful as the book. I was glad I read the book first!

I became an ambassador for Barefoot Books this past month. My husband helped me create this image as my logo for the new Barefoot Books Club FaceBook page and Instagram account. I’ve always dreamed of owning my very own book store and this is a pretty fun, virtual, stress free alternative. Let me know if you want any book suggestions!
